During this, our 50th anniversary year, we’ll be sharing 50 reasons to celebrate Center for Neighborhoods — one reason each week. The posts will come from different stakeholders in the organization, representing our past, present, and future.
Last week we celebrated two important women in Center for Neighborhoods’ history: Carol LeBourveau and Ann S. Hassett, both of whom played a role in saving CFN from folding in the early years of our existence.
This week, as we continue celebrating Women’s History Month, we give thanks for the women who keep CFN going today:
- Dr. Mellone F. Long, Executive Director
- Johnique Ison, Senior Neighborhood Liaison
- Tahjená Muldrow, Neighborhood Liaison
- Lou Lepping, Planning & Programs Associate
- Christi Stevens, GIS & Data Coordinator
Between these two sets of women are countless others who have played an important role in our organization’s 50-year history. Some, like Ms. Lucille Leggett, for whom our Neighborhood Institute is named, are widely known, while others might only be familiar to those in their immediate neighborhoods.
In honor of Women’s History Month and our 50th Anniversary, we invite you to share with us on Facebook about the women you know who’ve had a hand in making Center for Neighborhoods the organization it is today. We wouldn’t be here without them.
